My camera died while traveling in Peru. I sold it to a repair shop to mine for parts, and bought a Canon A520 for about 75% more than I would have had to pay in the US. I'm still traveling. Without my laptop, I use internet cafes and Windows Explorer is my only available photo management software. Naturally I decided to look into microstock photography under these conditions. I learned is that most agencies require a phone number, so I'm restricted as to where I can submit, too. I figure I'll learn a lot.

I got my first SLR after I moved to South Africa. I visited a game park in Zimbabwe and the elephants in my photos looked like large gray dots. I bought a used camera from a friend, and have had a camera nearby ever since. I went digital in 2003, partly to save money. I now take pictures of everything, because I can always delete! No processing costs.

Please be kind enough to let me know where and how you use my photos. Thank you.

You can see more of my work at www.chafinphoto.com.

I live, work, and play in Lexington Kentucky with my Wife Cheryl and dog Shelby. Cheryl is my "Director of Inspiration and Motivation". She gives me the encouragement that I need to keep doing this photography thing. I continually thank her for being so patient while I hide my face behind my camera or stare at the computer screen editing images.

I've been shooting on and off for 35 years starting out on the high school yearbook staff using a 35mm range finder camera handed down to me from my brother. I cannot thank him enough for that first "SERIOUS" camera. Before that it was all Brownies and Hawkeyes.

Over the years I've progressed through various 35mm cameras ranging from Praktika to Minolta to Nikon. I even owned a medium format Mamiya for a few years. I've now become involved in the digital world. I feel that digital allows for more spontinaity and creativity. It has opened up a whole new vision for me. I shoot almost exclusively digital now, although I still have my film stuff.

I recently upgraded to a canon digital 350D, I'm still using the 18-55 mm lens but I plan to get a zoom at some point.
As you will see from my portfolio I have a weakness for signs both photographs and illustrations. I haven't decided yet whether I am a landscape or an architecture photographer so for the moment I am doing both. I live in Scotland so my landscapes tend to be of those nearby but I love to travel so hopefully I can build my collection as I do so.
With digital photography photoshop or an equivalent program is very useful outside of a studio as you can't control of the variables but with one of these programs you can regain some control to get the photo closer to what you intended.

Professorgb's #

I've been an assistant professor of communication and a marketing analyst. This year, I decided to take a break from the number crunching and follow my long love of photography. I picked up a 10D, some L glass, and went off into the wild to take photos. The wildest thing I've shot is my four-year-old daughter.

I have three passions at the moment: Landscapes, food, and isolations. Landscapes are great, especially when you live in Colorado. Everywhere you look you find something more scenic than you thought was possible. Food is also great, because when you finish cooking or shooting a photo, you get to eat the subject. Isolations are a challenge to create, especially without a studio.

Hi, I have been living in Asia for the last 30 years, so a lot of my images have Asian themes, both new and old. From traditional markets and food, to modern business centers, from temples and scenery, to industry and daily life. I enjoy mostly outdoor shots, to capture the common from new perspectives and dimensions. Living in the dynamic world of East Asia there is never a shortage of interesting themes and topics.

I have a Canon EOS 350D Rebel XT
My favorite type of photography is photographing flowers. My friends(both online and offline) call me "the flower lady". I cant help it :o)

I tend to lean more twords glow/softning filters as I love the romantic "effect" it gives some of my photos. Other times It will be a solid background sometime natural. It all depends on my mood when i process my photos, what i saw when i took the photo, and how I felt when i heard the click of the shutter.

Davy#

My first interest in photography began when I bought a Practika SLR camera as a teenager.
Living at that time in Devon, South West England I have always retained a love of the countryside so it was natural that most of my subjects revolve around landscapes and travel.
The advent of the digital age has provided more freedom of expression without the paraphernalia of darkooms, enlargers etc. and this has given a fundamental boost to my photographic inspiration.
My wife and I love to travel the world as much as our work allows, so I am lucky to be able to say that I have all the subject matter I could possibly desire.
Most of my current images are made on a Canon EOS 20D with 3 lenses 10-22, 17-85mm and 70-200 2.8L IS USM.
This year I already have 2 trips planned, one to cover a small photographic assignment in Crete, and then a holiday to the Canadian Rockies which should also give me the opportunity to get creative! I hope you like my collection and I would be pleased to hear from you.

Kerioak#

I am Christine - often known as Kerioak - from England

I have always taken a lot of "snaps" for as long as I can remember but really started getting interested in photography because I wanted some good photos of my dogs - I have yet to get them as it helps to have a second person around to distract them from me.

I recently bought a Canon Eos 350d which I tend to have with me nearly all the time and I am learning a lot more about photography with this. My favourite subjects are animals and birds with my real passion being for dogs, particularly Dobermanns

What do I hate most about being a photographer - my inabillity to remember to move when a dog is charging at me and I am on the ground pointing a camera at it :-)

If you would like to see more of my pictures there are some at http://www.create-

I enjoy photography, and have been at it for over 15 years. My photographic interests include sunsets and landscapes, macro and action, especially watersports. My main camera is a Canon 20D, I also use my trusty Canon S2 IS for macro work.

Take care and have fun Chris

ThomasArnestad#

I'm a hobby photographer from Norway using a Canon Powershot G5 trying to save money to digital SLR in the near future. I've always had a passion for photography but have recently started to step it up a bit, learning more about techniques and editing. I use Photoshop CS2 to better my photos. I get my inspiration from the perfection of the nature surrounding us, but my photography is so far for personal pleasure. So far I've focused most on Nature/Landscape photos but are always trying to see opportunities for objects to capture wherever I go. I started out with my first 35mm camera when I was 5 years old and my dream is to make a living of photography some day. The combination of making money and doing what you simply love is the ideal set-up which I strive for every day. If you have any comments about my photos, please email me at thomas.arnestad@gmail.com. I would love the feedback.

I'm a full time graphic designer / part time amateur photographer. I work for a national custom publisher in the US. My day job consists of designing full-color custom magazines for companies of all types. I know how much of a thrill it can be when you find that one specific image that you looked "ever-so-hard" for...whether it is for an editorial, advertisement, or even web design. To be able to buy royalty free stock photography at such an affordable price is no doubt the best thing since sliced bread. That's why I keep all of the images in my portfolio at an affordable price range.

I love designing or shooting stock photos that I can use in my own design work, as well as making them available to other designers. When I find that one of my photos or backgrounds is useful to someone other than myself it gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside! I shoot with a Canon a610, and post process all of my images to get them absolutely perfect - free of any noise or imperfections. I have been shooting/designing stock images for about 6 months now, and look forward to many more years to come. My strength is creating digital illustrations and textures, as you will see throughout my portfolio. Many of my photographs come from my own personal vacations and day-trips.

Thanks for checking out my images :)

I am a self taught freelance photographer, working exclusively in digital.
I have both Nikon and Canon cameras and various lenses and accessories for both. Also a range of studio lighting.

I prefer to work with my own equipment but have in the past used specialised equipment belonging to clients.

The majority of work I do is for myself.
In the summer I can usually be found crawling through the undergrowth of the nearby forest. Which is conveniently situated 10 minutes drive from my home. Looking for any bugs and insects I have not yet photographed. When I'm not doing that I am cultivating my far from ample garden, in an attempt to grow flowers and shrubs that I can photograph, as well as encouraging wildlife.

The long dark winter months are when I work in the studio. There I will set up still lifes or cajole members of the family to pose.

Having a background in Fine art and Illustration some of my favorite photos are converted in image manipulation programmes into 'digital paintings'.
These I sell as posters via my own website alongside photographs which are available to buy online and download 24/7.

I love black and white photography as any viewer will have more feelings about the photograph. I am a people and architecture photographer. What ever I do, where ever I go my camera is always with me!

Digital photo is great! There is plenty of thing to be yet invented. I guess we people just don't know how to wait. Still there are lots of things we can learn and do now. So grab your camera and start shooting!

Some people may say PhotoShop is bad. But why? That is what makes digital photography so great! You can add a little detail or hide. Traditional photographers use red rooms and PhotoShop is a red room for digital photographers.

Freezingpictures#

My name is Jan Will. I am a native German, although I have spent more then half of my life in foreign countries. Photography has been a hobby of mine for a while, but I also always wanted to sell them. I sold my first one several years ago to my uncle. I sold all the rights to him, but I assume he lost that photo. The photo was of an old shoe, that had been flattened because cars had driven over it on a dirt road in Africa.

In October 2005 I discovered that there are possibilities to sell photos in the internet, and finally I found this great website. Last year I had the chance to travel to the Arctic and to Antarctica. It is so facinating to see God's creation and I am in awe of it. I can tell you penguins are so funny! Photos of the Arctic and Antarctica make up the largest portion of my Portfolio, therefore the name Freezingpictures.

When I was back in Germany I bought a Cannon D60 which is now my current digital camera. I am not a proffessional and the few good shots are mainly due to luck. However if you are a customer I hope you are satisfied with the photos and I want to thank you in advance for downloading :-)

I am still using Canon film cameras and Fuji films. Simply because I can't afford a DSLR which delivers the same picture quality!!! My preferred photo subjects are animals, flowers (especially macros), landscapes and food. Apart of slides (mostly Velvia) I shoot also in black and white. I use photo editing programs mainly to make minor adjustments, but being a big fan of fractal art I use my computers to render high res fractal images like my avatar. I prefer stockphotography instead of assigments because it takes a lot of pressure away, but it also requires a lot of self discipline if you want to be successful. I can render fractals to specifications, so if you want to illustrate a special project, contact me via FP or via my Website:

I started with stock photography in February 2006. I thought it would be interestint to try as i take lots of photos while on my travels. I had just upgraded to a Canon 20D about 6 months prior so thought if I can make some money back on my purchase, while doing something i enjoy, all the better.

Shortly after starting, I was referred to this site and liked the option to set your own prices.

The majority of my photos are photos I take while on Holiday.

Clivia#

Since first looking down the lens of my Canon 20d, I see the world quite differently. It has change to a series of pictures and possible crops!
I got into photography because of a need to illustrate gardening articles with pictures of the relevant plants and situations. I used to write extensively for a gardening club magazine, but the photography has gradually taken over.
My work in stock photography finances my more artistic ventures. One day I may unleash them on the world, you have been warned!
I live in Cheshire in the UK, a very beautiful green and lush place to live. I wander around with my camera and tripod, accompanied by my ever faithful (and patient) dog. He is supposed to be my protection in this every more violent world. In fact he is a big wimp who wouldn't say boo to a goose. He has big teeth though, so the deterrent is there.
I have a little business doing portraits of people's pets, mainly dogs and cats with the odd budgerigar and parrot. I prefer them to come to my studio, they tend to behave better on my territory, but sometimes it is nice to get the portraits in their homes. Sometimes I wonder if it is worth the effort, animals don't always cooperate!
I don't have a favorite subject to photograph. So many things can stimulate the imagination and inspire me, to choose a favorite would be an injustice.
I also enjoy graphic art. I use Bryce, Poser, 3dsMax, and Photoshop to make pictures. I like to experiment with new ideas and play with the software. It's amazing what a few hours and a computer can produce.

Equipment:
EOS1n, 10D, Fujifilm Finepix F11 as a walkaround
EF17-40mm f4/L, EF50mm f1.8, EF100mm macro, Tamron 180mm Macro, EF100-400mm
Speedlight 580EX, 420EX, 430EX

Have been an 'on and off' photographer most of my life, but recently, with the Digital Photography revolution, it has sparked a rediscovery of photography for me.

Nature Photography is my interest, with preference towards macro, but learning to pick up on bird photography. Looking for a good set of equipment to cover this aspect of nature photography.

With two young boys to look after, photography usually takes a lower priority. It's always family ahead, nothing warms me quite like the smiles and laughter from my boys.

Keith#

I am a self-taught photographer with no formal training in art.
My inspiration comes from the world around me every day. I am inspired by much of Ansel Adams work as well as Brett Weston’s images. Nature and Wildlife are my main focus but I also shoot artistic nudes and assist models in assembling their portfolios.
I shoot Nikon exclusively and now shoot three models - D100 / D1X & D2X.
I work freelance for several magazines.

I spend most of my time in my pirogue in the deep reaches of one of many swamps in the Sportsman's Paradise region of Louisiana. The connection of the land and water fascinates me and I explore the awesome opportunities the swamps and wetlands offer. The unique emotions the environment offers are harsh but very inviting and hold ones interest at every turn.

My trips often consist of several days and nights traveling and shooting. The reasons for this are that I am somewhat of a "light chaser" and to get the lighting I want from mother nature you have to be on her time, some of the images in my collections came from areas that very few people travel!

I have a pirogue that I made and set up for these ventures, I have a deep cycle marine battery that allows me to re-charge my camera and laptop batteries. I shoot large format RAW NEF most of the time and edit in Photoshop CS2.

Please leave any comments you may have concerning my work, I value constructive critique...

I first became interested in photography some years ago and am predominately self-taught. Since the advent of digital photography I have become enthralled in the whole aspect of digital manipulation and all the possibilities it holds. Now photography for me has become an ever-changing palette of colours and viewpoints.

I have lived in London since I was 2yrs old; the city is therefore my main point of inspiration and interest. London is forever re-inventing itself, changing its feel, it's skylines and urban face and therefore provides a constant source of visual stimulus and photographic opportunities.

My images span across many different areas and range from the abstract, architectural and close up nature studies. Most of my inspiration comes from looking at the everyday mundane and ordinary things in life and then viewing them from a different perspective or viewpoint and in doing so reveal its extraordinariness. Often I will manipulate the image to amplify its beauty and strength but am careful not to lose its original identity.

When I recieved my first film Nikon F60 camera as a Christmas Present that set me off on a frenzy to take lots of photos, then along came D70 Digital SLR and woohoo had to get one. 2yrs later and now have a D200 Nikon...
Then the expense of lenses and now an addicted photographer in my spare time. Recently teamed up with a fulcaner if thats what you call them and now going to be specialising, well for the time being, in Birds of prey as she has many for me to choose from. I like critism of my photos but only positive ones of cause so that I can learn more from the experts (professionals).
