In the article "Hot color and background trends for 2008" we started a conversation about what is coming in 2008 in terms of design themes, colors, and backgrounds. The 2008 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, were awarded to Beijing. Interest in this global event could spark a trend in:

• Reds and yellows, traditional Chinese colors.
• Chinese motifs that include the dragon, pine trees, tall jagged mountains and birds such as the crane.
• Floral motifs with peonies and chrysanthemums.
• Chinese calligraphy.

Looking forward to this event we will begin to publish several new "Chinese theme" selections of images.

The colors and backgrounds of nature are becoming more in demand. An increased awareness of environmental interests are reflected in the types of colors and textures we are paying attention to. In 2008, looking stylish will mean looking natural.

Since the ancient Greeks named the Seven Wonders of World more than 2 millennia ago, with the exception of the Pyramids, they are all gone. People across the globe have enjoyed debating which are currently the most remarkable of Earth's many spectacular sites. Bernard Weber set out to name the "New 7 Wonders of the World" in 1999. Almost 200 sites around the world were selected, and the list was then narrowed to 21. One of these, the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, the sole original Wonder of the Ancient World to survive, was named an honorary wonder. Seven more of the remaining 20 were chosen by worldwide vote, via internet and phone polling, and announced on July 7, 2007 These images, presented in high resolution, represent those choices and some additional views of other spectacular sites.
