Images of Chinese Culture

In the article "Hot color and background trends for 2008" we started a conversation about what is coming in 2008 in terms of design themes, colors, and backgrounds. The 2008 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, were awarded to Beijing. Interest in this global event could spark a trend in:

Reds and yellows, traditional Chinese colors.
Chinese motifs that include the dragon, pine trees, tall jagged mountains and birds such as the crane.
Floral motifs with peonies and chrysanthemums.
Chinese calligraphy.

Looking forward to this event we will begin to publish several new "Chinese theme" selections of images.

May 29, 1953: The first men to ascend to Everest's summit

On 29th May, 1953, after three decades of attempts, Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay become the first men to stand on Mt. Everest's summit. By the 50th anniversary of the ascent in May 2003 over 1,300 people had reached the summit at the roof of the world.

The height of Mount Everest has been determined to be 8,850 meters (29,035 feet). Scientific surveys completed in the early 1990s supported evidence that Everest is the highest mountain in the world. In fact, the mountain is rising a few millimeters each year due to geological forces. http://encarta.msn.com

Face2Face posted black-and-white giant portraits of people from Israel and Palestine to show that they are not so different after all.

Photographs of different sizes have been posted on the walls and in the cities. The pictures for the Palestinian territory went up on March 4, and the Palestinian side was completed March 7th.

	In a quiet moment Taken within our partyrooms where I do a lot of shots from time to time. I like the light and the calm and peaceful atmosphere when nobody is there. Very often I go there for a handfull of pics and then forget the time and come back with more than a hundred.
	Floating It's one of my experimental shots, moving the camera around a bit. I did some post processing to add the curves, to give it some additional movement.
	April wind Done on the first of April on top of a hill. There was a strong wind blowing, so that I couldnt fix the flower with my camera. When I saw the photo (which wasn't too good as a photo), I immediately had the idea to work it over in photoshop, to express the feeling of the moment when I captured it
	Island dream. Another experimental shot, another ps work. One of the macro shots from some old record covers, moving the camera a bit. Once I saw it, I got a holiday feeling. td <>
